    Old Airport Road as its name implies, was the eastern boundary of the former Kallang Airport, the first purpose-built civil airport in Singapore. After the closure of the Kallang Airport, the area around Old Airport Road was redeveloped into a residential estate, known today as the “Old Kallang Airport Estate”. Previously, the road ended on the western bank of the Geylang River, but was later extended eastwards to connect with Dunman Road.

    It is now famous for being the location of the renowned Old Airport Road Market and Food Centre. Old Airport Road Food Centre is a popular hawker center located in the eastern part of Singapore. It’s known for its wide variety of local dishes at affordable prices. The hawker center has a long history and is a favorite spot among locals and tourists alike for sampling Singaporean street food.

    Old Airport Road Food Centre and Shopping mall. Ever wondered why it was called a shopping mall even thought there were no signs of one. This is because there are actually 2 levels to it with the first level being the food eatery place and the Second Floor is a quieter place that not many visit but there are still shops around. Some are selling clothes and textiles although many of the stalls are closed. Many are own by the grandmothers who are relatively old and are just chilling out there so it would be nice if you can drop by to walk around and take a look when u have the time.

    Not stingy with their prawns, this fried hokkien mee stall serves up hokkien mee that is not too saltish with the right amount of “wetness” that pairs well with their homemade chilli that is really spicy for those who love spice. The price is very reasonable not expensive.

    Always packed with long queues, Xiang Ji Lor Mee serves Lor Mee here with great portions of ingredients and noodles. Despite the long queue it was fast and still maintain a good quality. They serve affordable bowls of Lor Mee starting at just $3, with their perfectly fried fish and other ingredients which are just as good. For those who are hungry there is also the $5 portion which is packed with even more ingredients.

    Chef Wang Fried Rice is known for their pork chop fried rice. Although there are alot of similar kinds of Fried rice and many has their differing opinions many are a fan of Chef Wang fried. With the pork chop that is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside giving it the perfect bite. Even without the chilli, it still hits just as good. It was opened by ex-Ding Tai fung chef and has definitely lived up to the hype.

    They serve a modern twist to Teochew minced pork noodle with more ingredients added. Items that are not usually in minced pork noodle like scallop, abalone which adds a unique feel to the minced pork noodle. With the mee cooked to al dente, the sauces giving an umami flavour to the choices of ingredients are all well matched together which was why it was hyped up so much on the net.
