Aki Sushi & Grill
Had a great dine-in experience at Aki Sushi & Grilled in Plaza Singapura! The bento set was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The sushi was perfectly rolled with quality ingredients, and the grilled dishes were flavorful and well-cooked. The restaurant has a cozy and clean atmosphere great for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Staff were friendly and attentive too. Definitely a nice spot in town for authentic Japanese food at reasonable prices. Highly recommended for sushi and bento lovers!
Usually I would pick out a tray of sashimi for lunch. This time I selected a plump portion of hamachi head and had the diner grill in salt and pepper. This place allows you to pick from their counter hot, cold and raw food items. You can dine in or takeaway. No service charge. Economical diner to have a decent Japanese meal. Service is prompt if you need help and the place is. Lean and tidy. You only get to smell like cooking oil all over your cloths due to the surrounding stalls that deep fry everything they sell. The hamachi was grilled to perfection. Not over cooked and the fish was fresh too. Came with a salad comprising of cabbage and carrots, plus a bowl of rice. Green tea was also served with the meal. All that for $19.90. What a steal!
Great place for a quick meal. There weren't many reviews about the steak so we were slightly worried but as is apparent from the photo, the cook on the steak is great! Medium rare is nicely pink in the middle. There's an option to swap the rice for a small portion of potato salad without additional charge, which is a nice touch! Green tea is free flow too. As another reviewer mentioned, there are oil smells from neighboring stalls, especially if you choose to seat at the back of the restaurant. Staff at neighboring stalls can also get a bit chatty. Atmosphere isn't the best but bearable. Didn't experience any mosquitoes but I did glimpse a housefly.
The google rating is not doing justice to this eatery. I ordered a chirashi don that comes with ebi, uni, ikura among other sashimi, served alongside soup and tea for less than $30. The food here is really affordably priced, sashimi is fresh and thick cut. They also have cuts of beef for you to pick and their chefs will cook it for you at no additional charge for dine-in. There is also a huge array of bentos available for takeaway or dine-in. I hope diners will give this place a shot instead of believing the google rating.
It was really a caught-me-by- surprise experience at Aki Sushi and Grill. Simple layout, yet the service and food spoke volume to me. I was greeted by En Rou at the counter and gathered from my gestures, she thought I may have problem with speaking English, so she quickly switched to converse with me in Mandarin. So thoughtful. She took time to look into my diet needs patiently. Thank you, appreciate it. I ordered Grilled Saba set which comes with rice, tea and miso soup. To my delight, they have salad which came with the fish. Yummy food - thank you, chef. The service staff is quick to serve once I stepped in. I spent $10.90 in total for a wonderful time.
