CHICHA San Chen @ Bedok Mall
I wanted to try 1 more time their milk but decided after this that it will be my last purchase. I ordered a pouchong tea with milk, 50% sugar, without ice. It was $5.30 for the cup. It was overpriced with 60% of the cup containing milk. I saw them when they prepared the tea. The milk proportion has almost mask the tea. I suppose the tea quality was good so that the tea was not completely over powered. This is my last ever purchase with CHICHA, a rather disappointing, over priced milk tea.
Grabbed a Mango Creampie. Good for a pre-dinner appetiser. Refreshing and savory sweet, a little sticky and foamy. Pretty sure they knew what they were doing 😏 with the name. Note that you can't adjust the sweetness levels in this premade concoction. Also love the tea in CHICHA in general. Better than CHAGEE? Is it the best bubble tea in Singapore? Why do these shops have all CAPS NAMES? What are the answers to ALL THESE QUESTIONS? You be the judge.
I’m a regular at the Bedok outlet, often buying in the evening after work. Quality has been pretty consistent and service is decent as well. Want to commend on the female staff with long hair and blue contacts at the cashier on Thu (29/5) evening; after I paid for my order, I noticed and realised that the fresh milk add on was missing in the receipt. I went back to the cashier almost immediately and told her about it. She promptly went to check the prepped cups and added on the milk in mine, and quickly processed the add on and I made payment for it. The whole process was fuss free even tho there was a slight queue and I really appreciate that she had let me amend my order.
This is my first time trying Chicha San Chen, and it will also be my last. The staff attitude was shockingly bad—unprofessional, impolite, impatient, and behaving as if I owed them money. My cup lid was faulty, and when I politely asked for a new one, the staff member literally snatched the drink away. Another staff member looked at me with a “not my problem” face. Let me ask: Is a defective cup lid the customer’s fault? This kind of attitude is harder to swallow than the drink itself. I’ve been drinking KOI for many years, and not once have I experienced service this terrible. KOI truly deserves to be No.1 in service quality—they earned it. Their stores and uniforms may not be as fancy as yours, but their staff are friendly, polite, and genuinely respectful. Your store can look beautiful, and your uniforms can look impressive, but with service this awful, it is all meaningless. To be very honest, there is no “best,” only “worse” — and you have lived up to “worse” perfectly. You truly earned that title. In fact, I strongly recommend sending your staff to KOI for proper service training. Maybe then they will finally understand what professionalism, courtesy, and basic customer respect should look like. The service at Chicha San Chen is the worst I’ve experienced in Singapore, without question. I was even considering signing up as a member, but now there is absolutely no reason to. From now on, when my foreign friends visit Singapore, I will tell them clearly: If you want good bubble tea in Singapore, drink KOI. Don’t waste your time at Chicha San Chen.
Staff Mei Xin has been very attentive and providing excellent service. Thank you for your introduction of taro milk tea. It’s a pleasure being served by you at Bedok Mall outlet
