My second-favourite place (so far) to go for Mala Tang in SG. It’s been awhile since I’ve been back yet the quality remains, if not better. Seems like there is a bigger selection of ingredients. Staff was really helpful to find us good seating even during busy dinner rush. Soup refills are allowed too which was really nice. So far the original broth is the best tasting, tomato broth not as great. For additional $2, you can add “fried egg” as a side dish/topping which was the first time I’ve heard of and tried, it was an interesting addition and lovely with the soup!
Been always like their Mala soup base and pork bone soup base. But most fav is still mala flavour. Gongyuan mala soup is the one I prefer and like it very much. As others mala tang the mala soup is mix with milk which I don't really like and looks like laksa. I hope gongyuan remains their this mala soup base always.
Totally disappointed. A big fan of Mala Tang dry. I was looking forward to have a nice dinner @ home by ordering take-away. Gave the cashier my order & paid est. $20. Within few minutes I received it @ the pick up point. Happily I went home, showered & open up. It was pale like it was just blanch. I that the cook must have place the mala at the bottom. When I stir nothing & i picked up 1 piece & tried, ya it was only blanch. I was so upset & decided to grab bck to nex. Paid $18.60 cuz I need to tell the staff my point & how upset I was. Reached there, I brought back all the items & told cashier I paid for this mala dish & there was nothing. The cashier turn to the cook & ask her you forgot to give the sauce. The cook is just gave me the small container of mala. OMG & that was it. Sauce on the side container for take away. The cashier just say sorry that’s it. Please train your staff better, really I am most upset. They need to check their orders. OMG.
The menu has vegetarian options eg plant based broth and dumplings readily available. Excellent customer service. The female staff who served us was very friendly and patient. She even helped to ask the kitchen to rinse the cookware before preparation of our vegetarian meal.
Feel like it’s overpriced, didn’t order meat and mostly are vegies, beancurd sheet, and one toukee, one cheese tofu. Overall costs me $12. Extra packaging cost is $1.50 for the picture taken.
