Hot Tomato Bistro
We have been eating at a few Hot Tomato outlets for many years every now and then, from having the student offer until now as older people ordering the regular price. While the prices have gone up, the food quality remains as acceptable as ever. Most recently, I had a sirloin which was surprisingly tender. The pasta portion at this outlet also increased. What stands out about this place from the other steak chains at this price point is that they have aglio olio as a side and the top-up for a soup and drink is well priced. However, I am confused about the reviews commenting on the good service here. It is almost non-existent if you use QR. I hate having to pay 10% for someone to bring me food. I request that the govt abolish the service charge. Wake up Singapore.
Delicious and affordable Western fare with generous portions. The steaks, pasta and grilled seafood are consistently tasty, and service is quick and friendly — great spot for a casual meal at bedok mall
Was one of my fave casual dining place. Sadly, Prawn fettuccine was not fresh. Prawn meat was stale and powdery. The first time I encountered it, I let it go. Next few times, I asked in advance if the prawns are fresh before I order it, they confirmed its good. However, I still got stale bad Prawn meat. Service staff was polite but recovery of mistake was poor, ruined dining experience. It happened a few times, and they blamed the supplier, but the replacement 4 pieces of Prawns were firm, fresh and perfectly fine. Even a layman diner could tell from the meat if its not fresh. How could it be the chef could not tell? Probably trying to get rid of old meat, hoping diners cant tell the difference. Fish and chips wasn't as good as before. Perhaps theres a change in chef.
Expensive with meagre portion. Totally not worth the price. Ordered a plate of lamb chop main course and it came with 2 very small pieces of tough meat. The meat are only as big as the fork. Even the sides have way bigger portion then the lamb chops. A main course is called main course for a reason. When the main is smaller than its sides, its not a main anymore. $20 just for the "sides/appetisers" is totally not worth it. Have never been to anywhere where it costs so much yet with such stingy portion.
Honestly I should have taken a photo of the salmon. Found a hair on the salmon , it’s literally stick on the grilled salmon. First staff didn’t even answer me when I pass asked her. Then the other guy came up and said they will change a new one. It’s not even busy . There’s only two tables. All standing around . The kitchen staff (black uniform) can be seen leaning near the window at the serving bar area. And just one sorry. No explanation nothing. The prawns is nice but other than that , it’s very not worth the price.
