Mun Zuk Novena 满粥

bought a set meal cos i feel is more worth it than to buy porridge at al-la-carte price. food wise, porridge was ok but i would not say very delicious. you tiao abit tough and not crispy enough. barley drink abit diluted and on less sweet side. after order and paid, receipt got a number. to my surprise, i need not self collect as their staff actually brought my meal to my seat (maybe bcos since the shop itself is not big, thus they dun mind serving). overall the staff got initiative and were polite. for dine-in, they dun accept card payment. but they have a self order kiosk where customer can pay via card for takeaway.

Orders the set meal for 2 pax porridge with frog leg. The porridge is nice without too watery and has flavor, however the frog leg sauce is way too spicy. The frog leg meat is cooked to right texture that falls off the bone. The Yu Tiao is a bit oily.

A great porridge spot, perfect for rainy days. I usually go for the mixed pork—minus the liver, plus extra fish slices. The lean meat’s tender and juicy, and the fried intestines give a nice crunch, though with a slight but tolerable smell. The set comes with a long, freshly fried youtiao—a must-have! Super crispy and worth every oily bite. This time, I tried the aburi iberico pork collar after hearing someone order it. It was tender, lightly caramelised, and had a lovely smoky aroma. Food’s served to your table, but grab your own chilli padi.

Decent porridge in Novena area. Not the tastiest but it’s quite ok. I think the fish q fresh but very little. The youtiao is crispy, and the drink is not too sweet.

Follow the Singapore view to try a place with a queue and well patronized. Main dishes are congee with different types of additions. Tasty and filling. Service staff very friendly and helpful even bringing our order to where we were sitting. Recommended for those who like Cantonese style congee.
