Tajimaya Yakiniku @ VivoCity
⭐☆☆☆☆ We’ve visited Tajimaya many times in the past and always enjoyed the food and experience. However, due to work and family commitments, we haven’t been visiting as often. When we were at Vivo in mid-October, the first thing that came to mind was that I needed to get my Tajimaya fix! Sadly, this recent visit was quite disappointing. We were surprised to learn that the buffet no longer includes drinks. The last time we came (years ago), the soft drink station was still part of the buffet. Considering that Sukiya, which shares the same management, includes drinks in their buffet, it’s puzzling why this was omitted for the BBQ side. Hopefully, the management can review this and consider reinstating the drink option. Believe the cost is no going to be high. Service-wise, I really feel there’s room for improvement. It would be much better if a table bell system could be implemented instead of diners having to raise their hands and call out to staff, who are clearly very busy. There was an elderly male staff member who left a rather poor impression — he tends to forget requests and seemed more interested in chatting with the Caucasian customers next to us. His colleague even joked about him “going home with them” after they left, which I found unprofessional. Meanwhile, the manager was stationed at the entrance focusing on incoming guests, but it felt like customers already dining inside were somewhat neglected. Fortunately, there was a lady staff member who was fast, attentive, and efficient — I truly appreciated her service. I believe I’ve seen her many years ago, and it’s comforting to see familiar faces who still care about customer satisfaction. Overall, this dining experience was a letdown for my family and me. We sincerely hope to see improvements in service attentiveness and buffet inclusions. Tajimaya used to be one of our go-to spots, and it would be wonderful to see it regain that standard again.
The Eat All You Can Wagyu buffet was delicious, and the choices offered were very comprehensive. Being aware of the wastage policy, it had a limiting effect on my orders. I did not graze as much as I would've liked to. In the future, I will focus on beef rather than pork or poultry. The only thing I thought could have enhanced the eating experience would be a better offering of dipping sauces. The sashimi was excellent, and so were the assorted Daifuku. My personal waiter was extremely helpful and patient because I have still not come to grips with placing my orders, using a scanner, or this cashless payment.
Reasonable quality of Australian Wagyu for the premium buffet dinner for a rich and indulgent meal. Some hiccup in the seating - Staff initially put us near the entrance on table A01 with a used/ charred grill and no proper setup. As it was too exposed and noisy, we asked to shift to another table inside. Once settled, the service was prompt, and they checked in on us from time to time. We indicated birthday celebration at the online reservation, but there was no special arrangement nor verbal acknowledgement at the restaurant.
I had a wonderful dining experience at Suki-Ya Vivo City. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, and the food exceeded all expectations — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I’d especially like to commend our server, Philip, for his outstanding service. He was attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made excellent recommendations that truly enhanced our meal. His professionalism and friendly demeanor made us feel genuinely welcomed and well cared for throughout our visit. It’s rare to find such consistent quality in both food and service, and Philip’s dedication to ensuring every guest has a great experience really stood out. I’ll definitely be returning soon and recommending this place to friends and family. Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
