Dining Experience @ The Hainan Story. . The Hainanese Lor Mee has thick silky rice vermicelli noodles / bee hoon in a thick gloopy rich braising gravy with added black vinegar and minced garlic, carrying lovely grainy salty savoury sour tangy meaty herbal spice flavour. . Garnished with tender pork ngo hiang 5-spice fritters with meaty savoury salty spice flavour, crisp fresh coriander with vegetal bitter herbal sweet flavour, bouncy soft-boiled chicken egg with eggy sweet savoury flavour, and crisp crunchy fried flour bits with salty savoury flavour. . The 1980s Hainanese Pork Cutlet With Cheesy Pork Sausage is inspired by the Chinese Hainanese staple. The medium thick pork chop is coated in a panko bread crumb batter, crisp crunchy on the outside, tender moist on the inside, with succulent meaty sweet savoury grainy flavour. . Dressed with soft caramelised white onions with vegetal sweet flavour, juicy green peas with bright vegetal earthy grassy sweet notes, and juicy corn kernels with vegetal sweet flavour. The thick chunky mashed potatoes has starchy salty savoury flavour, while the refreshing crisp crunchy coleslaw carries bright milky vegetal sweet flavour. . As before, the tender soft warm baked beans in tomato sauce has mild vegetal grainy sweet flavour. The fluffy potato fries has starchy salty savoury flavour, and the snappy crunchy juicy cheese pork sausage has smoky meaty salty savoury cheesy flavour. . Served with a thick barbecue sauce on the side, which lends tangy sour sweet savoury smoky flavour.

Finally, I tried the Hainanese story at Jewel Singapore for the first time. It was somewhat crowded, with a queue outside, but the line moved quite quickly. This place comprises a few different brands, so we decided to try each of them. Always love a good hainanese or straits chinese dishes! The standout dishes included Hainanese Chicken Rice, Curry Rice, and Hainanese Porridge. Oh please order on the side fried pork belly. And ask for the sambal. It is very good! The Char Kway Teow needs significant improvement; it didn’t taste much nor it has the wokhey taste. I had better expectations of it. However, I was very pleased with the drinks they offer here the portion for drink is large with adequate ice to drink ratio. Averaging at $2-$4

Got the toast set and a couple of for takeout and enjoyed them! For toast, I opted for the one with lychee and it was so fragrant! The filling I chose was the gula melaka kaya with butter and woah, it was RICH. The teh siu dai was also very fragrant and well-balanced with tea and milk—I think I like it more than toast box?!?!? As for the eggs, could be better cooked cos a bit watery. For the four buns, my favorite was the chicken burger cos it was substantial and actually tasty. The bolo char siew and Hainan curry bun were both not bad. Last in place was luncheon meat + egg bun, but still not bad. All in all, savory buns are FUN and good for breks!

Not sure eating chicken rice or eating chicken bones rice. 80 percent bones end up had to order a second portion. If this is the way of your business just to earn extra 10 dollars, rest assured that this will be the first and last time. For a restaurant standard i think the meat portion should be justifiable for the price itself. If not what makes you different from the hawkers? Maybe should check out how other chicken ruce restaraunts serve their chicken rice like boon tong kee.

The place has a nice and pleasant atmosphere, making it a comfortable spot to sit and relax. However, the overall experience was quite disappointing. We ordered kopi, but what was served was kopi-o, which was not what we requested. On top of that, the coffee lacked any real coffee flavour — it was bland and didn’t have the aroma or richness you’d expect. We also ordered two sets of toast with soft-boiled eggs. Unfortunately, both sets came with eggs that had pieces of eggshell inside, which really affected the dining experience. Additionally, the toasted buns were not warm at all. It felt like they had been prepared earlier and left sitting out before being served, losing both their warmth and crispness. It’s a pity, as the setting is pleasant, but the food and drink execution left much to be desired. Hopefully, improvements can be made to match the ambiance.
