The Hainan Story Coffee House
First time here. Laksa was flavourful Ava chock full of ingredients which justify the price. The glass noodles seem a little bland in comparison to the laksa but after a few more mouthfuls, we liked it as well - tasted homemade and not too heavy if you prefer a lighter dish. The prawn rolls with the accompanying sauce were surprisingly good as well - the sweet sauce complemented the saltiness of the rolls well.
Came for brunch and ordered the fried glass noodles, curry chicken, and coffee. The glass noodles were a bit on the plain side and slightly pricey. The curry chicken, however, was very good and came with a generous amount of curry sauce, which paired nicely when mixed into the noodles. The atmosphere was excellent—comfortable, well-designed, and thoughtfully spaced, making it a pleasant place to dine.
Ordered the Curry Chicken with soft bun and Hainanese Scottish Pork Steak. The place is spacious but rather rowdy. The restaurant has old school vibes. The curry is very thick and flavourful, would be good if it comes with potatoes. The bread is too crispy, would prefer it to be softer. The pork chop is delicious but the sides are not up to par, the fries are too hard and the salad is too bland. There are other interesting items on the menu, such as Orh Nee Waffles. Would definitely return to try the other dishes.
Have always liked their chicken chop and pork chops. Wasn’t feeling too well and decided to order the claypot noodles via delivery. To my horror, the noodles that arrived was crunchy and packed separately while the broth was clear soup and looked nothing like it was simmered in a claypot. Worse still, there was quite a bit of spillage within the plastic bag. The noodles remained crunchy even after soaking in the broth for a few minutes. Isn’t it supposed to absorb the gravy and soften? Noodles is definitely a once-off for me. Will only recommend the chops from this place.
The place is clean and match the theme. But, food not serve together makes it hard on customer, run 2 times for one service. The food is also unique so not my kind of favour. Cake with shallot yam makes dessert a bit gease in taste. The pork, chilli and veg all quite nice but the rice is hard.
