Ya Kun Kaya Toast
being a daily soy teh drinker, the soy teh tasted very diluted, with almost no soy flavour, which was quite different from the usual Yakun standard. my bf said it tasted like water hahaha I was told the soy had just been freshly made hence it's not viscous but watery but brooo it was so obv the the soy was just like translucent LIQUID. super disappointed :(( from the photos u could tell there was NO SOY AT ALL??? i didn't even stir it 🥲 yakun needs to look into their consistency for all the various outlets across sg. yakun @ ONE NORTH is rlly superior with super warm staff
Quite a small outlet at the basement of United Square with limited seating, so arrow hard to get seats except during off peak hours. Kopi was OK, as was service and ambience.
This morning was completely spoiled by the aunty who kept scolding and yelling. The customer behind us mistakenly collected our food, leaving his own order unclaimed at the counter. When we checked with the staff, they told us to wait until our number was called. Then the rude aunty came out and shouted, “Don’t just look at your phone! Watch the queue number and collect your food!” — which was really frustrating to hear all the yelling in the early morning. She also yelled at customer returning tray at the food counter. A lot of unnecessary yelling throughout the dining experience. We approached the staff again, and thankfully another cashier lady kindly attended to us. She confirmed that the other customer had indeed taken our food by mistake. Yet that customer also another next level one - he acted as if nothing had happened throughout the whole conversation when he just sat next to us. Honestly, we weren’t asking for compensation from him, but at the very least, some courtesy would have been appreciated.
Yakun is chain/ franchised outlet. Menu wise, the quality is pretty consistent. Nothing much to say, either like the taste or hate it. However, I notice services vary a lot from very rude to polite staffs. The notorious one I encountered are Westmall & Jem. The polite one at Raffles Place, Lot 1 & Taka basement,so far. Kopi uncles & aunties especially tends to be easily irritable, like very self entitled seniors. Jem is one for example. They do take feedback, and answer you this is it, bopian. Atmosphere wise, Yakun's positioning is a " stall" , Toastbox is a ' shop'. Therefore Yakun is stuffy, when located next to a stall doing frying, such as at Jem/Lot 1 , and many more. Another problem is way too crampy for comfort. Bumping into next table is possible. Or, have to excuse your way through. It's like taking flight, u have the window seat Upkeeping has a lot of room for improvement. Dirty tables & floors are not attended. Are the staffs welfare poor? What cause the sub par services? Can ventilation be improved? Maybe that explained staffs frustration too, which in turns, vented on others. Bopian can mean take it or leave it, you can say it to life. To your customer.....on 2nd tot, no one say cannot. The test of good service is when welfare is bad , and ventilation is poor, unfortunately.
The Chinese young cashier wearing spectacles is ok, her service got faster. The middle-aged female supervisor was very rude! She's on the plump side, wears a black shirt and glasses. She makes fun of customers in their faces and they think that customers don’t understand what she’s talking about. This is the last time I’m buying coffee from this shop! It was very uncomfortable buying drinks from this store. I hope YaKun HQ or the franchise owner look into this. There’s a review by Mr. L and I agree with him! It’s the same supervisor who is so rude! To Mr. L, I have to credit you because you took a good picture of the supervisor!
