Ya Kun Kaya Toast
For a Singaporean heritage brand, this was a shocking level of service given to us today. If I can give 0 stars I would. The service was already mediocre when we came in at 7.45pm, because the guy told us we have to finish eating by 8pm. He sounded very impatient that we chose to dine in at that time. Much to our horror, the food was served on the serving tray WITHOUT a plate. My order was also taken wrongly as I ordered butter sugar toast (another item) and they keyed in kaya butter. I had to inform the staff immediately in case they prepared the wrong item. It wasn't even a busy time as we are the only customers ordering then. I feel that they should have just said they don't allow dine-in beyond 7.45pm next time if they're so rushed and cannot even provide a decent level of service.
Super long queue and short handed. Knowing is the peak hour in the morning but only find 1 staff at the counter preparing coffee and payment. Not sure what the management is thinking! Very bad manpower planing skills.
Today I tried to brave myself and buy some toast at Suntec City. I had a bad experience with a kaya toast shop in Bedok about a year ago, so I wanted to give it another try. Unfortunately, the service was still the same. I asked for takeaway, but somehow my order became dine in. When I clarified, the cashier pointed at me and said, “Just now you said dine in?” Since when did I say that? I clearly asked for takeaway. I didn’t want to argue, so I just took the meal and ate there. To the management, please train your staff to improve their service so that customers can have a better experience and so you can receive good reviews in the future.
Usual bf. What’s more impt is that they are fast and reliable. They get the drinks out fast
Food is quite OK, standard Ya Kun fare. Service was very good though, the female server who took our order was very polite and helpful. It was a very long queue at 9+am on Sunday morning, but it cleared up by the time we were done.
