Ayam Penyet Ria - Nex
Decent Indonesian meal. I somehow feel it used to be a lot better, even more so when they had Sop Rawon on their menu. Back then taste and experience was very home cooked. Now feels very commercialised and lacks the wow factor they once used to have. Even the sambal feels different, I think it used to be a lot spicier. Overall, not too bad.
It’s been a while since I last had Ria, and this visit was disappointing. The fried fish and soya chicken were dry. The beancurd tasted more like fried egg than tofu, and the sauce could have been more flavourful. Chicken satay was moist, but the beef was tough. The only consistent item was the chili, still as spicy as before.
We came yesterday with our family and had a very disappointing experience.look at the picture tells it all. Even the top of box filled with chilli The service was extremely poor. Staff looked uninterested and couldn’t be bothered to attend to customers. We had to ask multiple times for extra rice and eventually had to walk over to collect it ourselves. A lot of menu items were already sold out when we were paying at the cashier — and this was before dinner time on a Sunday, which was frustrating. The food was served cold and portions were very small. The tahu and tempeh pieces were tiny, even smaller than my thumb. We also ordered a milk tea that was new on the menu, but it tasted so bad that my child couldn’t even drink it. When we asked to pack the food because we didn’t want to continue eating, the kitchen staff packed it wrongly. We specifically requested the chilli to be packed separately as one meal was non-spicy for our child, but everything was mixed together. What was most concerning was hygiene. The staff handling the packing had wet hands from mopping the floor, which I witnessed myself. There was clearly no proper supervision. Due to the poor service and serious hygiene concerns, we will not be returning.
I had tahu telor at several places and ao far this is the cheapest. Unfortunately, cheap, here, also means less. The tahu is much lesser than those other nasi padang stalls. Will I be back, definitely, because I love tahu telor.
Ordered crispy smashed fried chicken while partner ordered ayam bakar. Honestly the smashed fried chicken was pretty bad. It makes Sahara desert feel like oasis. Rice was average. Tofu and other side was better. Only reason for 4 stars was because my partner gave me the grilled chicken. Juicy and well charred. Much more delicious than the dry fried chicken.
