Katsu-an

Amazing food at affordable prices. Prices are GST included and there is no service charge despite having someone bringing the food to you. Very very pack during peak hour with long queue, but for a fnb to be providing good quality Japanese food at affordable prices in this economy is something worth mentioning. Thankful.

Came Suntec to try the Katsu-An, ordered their Tatar Sauce Lion Katsu Teishoku, ice green tea. The pork was abit on the dry side and quite hard to bit. Total bill $15 +

First time trying, price is considered budget eat in a mall, but the regular katsudon is totally legit in terms of authentic Japanese style, with generous portion of rice, reflecting a great value for the money. Meat tasted like properly aged (熟成) pork which make the signature porky flavour (I could be wrong but that's what my taste buds can recognize), and fragrance breadcrumbs cutting through the sauce. If I want to be picky the rice grain was cooked a little too moist and mushy. But for the price and the fact that it actually tasted better than some chain tonkatsu in Tokyo, this is easily my go to tonkatsu place.

There’s a tonkatsu restaurant in Suntec City, located in the basement, that offers good value for money. I ordered the katsudon and grilled eel. The flavor was delicious—the eel was well-prepared and the sauce was rich and flavorful, pairing nicely with the soft-boiled egg. As for the tonkatsu, it was crispy and cooked just right, though the taste was fairly average and not particularly different from other places.

Katsu don and tenshokei restaurant at B1 Suntec City. No service charge and GST. Food was decent sized and tasty for its price. Picture is of original sauce don katsu (L-sized). Meat was ok, could have given more. Rice was ok. Only issue was the menu was slightly confusing and there wasn't enough service crew to clean up the dishes and trays.
