Alley Wei
A warm and welcoming place , best suited to grab a quick bite. Tried egg scallion pancake here for the first time. 👍 Mantaou was simple fluffy and light, as one can expect! 👍 Pan fried chicken dumplings paired really well with the chilli and soy sauce 👍 All in all ... All good! Glad to see the efficient service staff also being all-smiles and jolly! 👍
I recently dined at Alley Wei, a Chinese restaurant that has been getting some attention, and overall, it was a mixed experience. The standout dish for me was definitely the beef noodles. The beef was incredibly tender, practically melting in your mouth, and the noodles were perfectly cooked, absorbing the flavorful broth beautifully. It was hearty and satisfying, and I would highly recommend this if you’re craving something comforting. The warm soy bean was a pleasant surprise—simple, but nice. It was a comforting touch, especially on a chilly day, and it complemented the meal well. As for the dumplings, they were a bit of a letdown. They were on the smaller side and didn’t have the burst of flavor I was hoping for. While they were decent, they didn’t stand out compared to other dumplings I’ve had at similar restaurants. The scallion pancake was crispy, but it was also quite oily, which made it a bit heavy to eat. It lacked that perfect balance of crunch and lightness that would’ve made it great. Overall, Alley Wei has some strong dishes like the beef noodles, but there’s room for improvement with the dumplings and scallion pancake. Still, if you’re in the mood for comforting Chinese food, it’s worth checking out.
We’ve tried their food at the Northpoint branch before, and as always, the quality remains consistent. The frontline staff—mostly seniors - are friendly and hardworking, which adds to the positive experience. We ordered the beef noodle soup; though the broth looked clear, it was packed with flavor from the fresh vegetables and rich beef stock. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal and will definitely return.
The signature beef noodles is above average but not THE BEST. The Pan fried chicken Bao looks appetising but a bit too thick on the dough to my preference. Will definitely see myself to visit this store again!!
The beef noodle is delicious and the beef is soft. I also love the pancake chicken and also the egg pancake.
