Red Ginger
Red Ginger, IMM – Mee Siam with Otah & Lontong Red Ginger continues to do what it does best—serve food that feels comforting, familiar, and quietly satisfying. Mee Siam with Otah This Mee Siam leans beautifully into comfort rather than sharp intensity. The gravy is mildly tangy with a gentle coconut richness, smooth and soothing instead of aggressively sour or spicy. It’s the kind of flavour that warms you up slowly, spoon by spoon. The bee hoon is soft and well-coated in the gravy, while the tau pok absorbs all that flavour effortlessly. The otah is the real highlight—fragrant, slightly smoky, and rich, adding depth and personality to the dish. Paired with the egg, sambal, and a squeeze of lime, everything comes together in a way that feels nostalgic and satisfying. It’s not flashy, just very heartfelt. Lontong The lontong is pure comfort on a plate. The turmeric-yellow gravy is mellow, creamy, and gently spiced, wrapping the vegetables and lontong in warmth. The cabbage is soft and sweet, the gravy well-balanced, and the sambal on the side lets you adjust the heat to your liking. Every bite feels homely, like something you’d eat on a quiet day when you just want food that understands you. Overall Both dishes feel thoughtfully prepared and true to Red Ginger’s comforting identity. Nothing overdone, nothing rushed—just honest flavours that soothe and satisfy. If you’re at IMM and craving something warm, familiar, and grounding, the Mee Siam with Otah and Lontong are choices you won’t regret.
I used to come to Red Ginger at IMM back in the 2010s and remembered it as a pretty reliable spot for Malay-style food. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t quite live up to those memories The food this time was just average — the rice and dishes felt a bit cold and lacked the warmth and flavour I remembered. It might be because I came later in the day, so the food had been sitting out for a while
I was drawn to their variety dishes and how they made sure the food is kept hot with food warmers. The food is halal. The dishes I chose were tasty. There is additional charge of 40 cents for fish and prawn which I was not aware before payment. The drinks i feel is too expensive. Canned drink was $2.30 per can and no ice was provided. Personally I think below $1.80 is more reasonable. During peak hours, it may be difficult to find a seat as they are popular.
Delish food with fresh ingredients except for fish which is common. The server can do better as compare to those from hawker and the atmosphere is good and clean.
A Delicious & Value-Packed Business Lunch Oasis! My recent business lunch at Red Ginger in IMM was a delightful surprise, proving that you don't have to sacrifice flavour or your budget for a quick yet satisfying midday meeting. This unassuming spot delivered some truly delicious local favourites, making it an excellent choice for a productive and palatable break. I opted for a combination that truly hit the spot: the Mee Rebus alongside the Nasi Biryani with bitter gourd. Let's start with the Mee Rebus. It was a well-executed rendition, featuring springy yellow noodles bathed in a thick, rich gravy that struck a perfect balance of savoury, sweet, and tangy notes. It was comforting and full of depth, a classic done right. The Nasi Biryani was equally impressive. The rice was fragrant and perfectly cooked, with each grain infused with the aromatic spices characteristic of a good biryani. The accompanying bitter gourd was a clever and delicious addition, providing a slight bitterness that perfectly cut through the richness of the rice. The ensemble was completed by a crispy piece of keropok, a perfectly cooked hard-boiled egg, and a generous serving of sambal squid. The sambal squid was particularly noteworthy – tender, with a piquant and flavourful kick that elevated the entire dish. Every component on both plates was genuinely delicious, showcasing a commendable attention to taste and quality. What made the experience even more remarkable was the final bill: a mere $14.30. For such a hearty, flavourful, and diverse spread, this represents truly fantastic value for money, especially within a shopping mall environment. The atmosphere at Red Ginger was conducive for a business lunch – it's clean, comfortable, and efficient, allowing for easy conversation without excessive noise. The service was prompt and well-organised, ensuring our meal was served efficiently without delays, which is crucial for a mid-day meeting. Red Ginger at IMM is a hidden gem for anyone seeking delicious, authentic local dishes at an unbeatable price point. Whether you're grabbing a quick solo meal or hosting a casual business lunch, their Mee Rebus and Nasi Biryani are highly recommended. It's a place that delivers on flavour, value, and convenience.
